Dr. Jay Agarwal was recommended by Dr. Nuemayer. So I trust her! We had appointment to meet him Tuesday morning for a consult. If it was anything like meeting Dr. Neumayer I felt like I was going to meet another soul sibling. Not the case. When he came in and begin speaking he was all about sharing the "what all that could go wrong". 1. Your nipple could die after the procedure because you will have lost a major blood supply. 2. Your nipple will lose all sensation due to the nerve being cut. 3. Cancer cells might be too close to the nipple therefore you would have to lose your nipple anyway. I was a little crushed.
He talked about if I want to use my own tissue scenario to make a new breast as well. I hadn't even thought of this, but I knew it wasn't an option because I was to skinny and that procedure was too extensive. He mentioned that they usually take the abdomen, like a tummy tuck, and make a new breast. He was a bit more enthusiastic about this, I find out later this is his specialty (micro surgery). I wanted break up the ice a little and said "well can you take my butt", fully knowing I would not do this procedure. "Well......he gaped" and then gave me all the reasons we he could not. I tried my charm a few more times, but to no avail, he could not be cracked.
Frustrated I finally told him the through tears, "I just want the reconstruction to be the gift after the cancer so please just make me your master piece". He grabbed a box of tissue-the extent of his ice breaking. He examined me and left.
I break down with Rob again . He comforts me by telling me that my case is easy and we know he has the skills, Dr. Neumayer recommends him and that's all we need to know. He also tells me that because I bonded with Dr. Neumayer, I was expecting the same from Dr. Agarwal, but its not important. He good.
Later I ask the nurses that have worked all over the valley in who they think the best plastic surgeon is. They all agree that Dr. Agarwal is the best. I'm at peace.
Later I tell my Healer Rodney about my conflict with Dr Agarwal. We do a guided imagery to help me gain more trust and acceptance of him. Whe I think of him I also think of my cute little dog friend Yogi and my heart lights with joys. It works.
Next time I see him he is grabbing my hands after coming out of surgery telling me everything went great. We exchange a sweet bonding between patent and surgeon. I like him. He comes to visit me in the Sunday after, I thank him immensely and I feel the ice crack. There is a picture of him on my blog. Its funny how I judged him, hes all about business but hes got a good heart too. He continues to surprise me with kindness.
